Briefing by the Regional Transportation District-

Cal Marsella, General Manager for the Regional Transportation District (RTD) and Wallace Pulliam, Board Member for the RTD, gave a presentation on the RTD which included an overview of the RTD, the RTD's 2006 adopted budget, a discussion on its contracted bus service, information on the Transportation Expansion Project (T-Rex), and FasTracks. The RTD distributed a handout which included a copy of their power point presentation, a status report of the District, and a general fact sheet on the RTD (Attachment A).

Responding to questions from members, Mr. Marsella discussed subsidies the RTD receives from the legislature and information on the percentage of revenue the RTD receives from passenger fares, advertising, and sales and use taxes. Mr. Marsella also provided information on the RTD's process for planning for areas with potential future growth or high congestion, and building transit lines to and through the western mountain corridor, specifically to accommodate clients patronizing ski areas.
