Senator Owen reviewed the provisions of Senate Bill 06-033, concerning the elimination of obsolete statutory language. He invited testimony from former Representative Kopel.

Former Representative Jerry Kopel, spoke in support of the bill and explained his work in identifying obsolete provisions in law. He pointed out specific provisions of interest in the bill. He spoke about one that pertained to sugar beet chemists and said that the statute did not align with current practice. Mr. Kopel indicated that he has not found historical references to the statute and has not found those involved in agriculture who are familiar with this section of law. Mr. Kopel said that he has discussed the provision with Executive Director Ament.

Former Representative Kopel continued his review by discussing a section in Title 35 C.R.S., concerning a predatory animal control license fee. Senator May thanked former Representative Kopel for his work. Senator Tupa made comments on the bill. Former Representative Kopel made final comments on the history of bills on obsolete provisions.
