The meeting was called to order by the chairman, Representative Merrifield. He announced that House Bill 06-1004 would be laid over until the committee's next meeting.

11:00 AM -- House Bill 06-1046

Representative Vigil reviewed the provisions of House Bill 06-1046, concerning regulation of private occupational schools. The bill, which is brought by the Legislative Audit Committee, authorizes the private occupational school board to prescribe uniform reporting policies in order to obtain data. The bill further authorizes the board to designate schools that teach students under age 16 for which applicants for an occupational credential must submit fingerprints for a criminal history check. He provided a hand-out on the bill (Attachment A).

11:03 AM -- Eric Johnson, representing the Office of State Auditor, indicated that he was available to answer questions regarding the audit of private occupational schools.

11:03 AM -- Matt Gianneschi, representing the Department of Higher Education, came to the table and offered to respond to questions from members of the committee.

11:04 AM -- Jerry Sirby, representing the Private Occupational School Board, also offered to respond to questions from committee members.
