Representative Stafford, prime sponsor, presented Senate Bill 06-239 concerning the regulation of persons who provide for the final disposition of dead human bodies in the course of business. She distributed a handout (Attachment A).

01:43 PM -- Geoff Hier, representing the Department of Regulatory Agencies, testified against the bill and distributed a handout (Attachment B). He stated that the bill should go through the sunrise process first. Mr. Hier responded to questions pertaining to the handout (Attachment B). There was committee discussion about how current law addresses mortuary science. Mr. Hier agreed that the laws pertaining to mortuary science need to be strengthened, but stated that Senate Bill 239 goes too far in the opposite direction.
