Senator Tochtrop, chair, called the meeting to order. Representative Hefly distributed proposed conference committee report CLSB 080.001(Attachment A). The proposed committee report accedes to the house amendments made to the bill, as the amendments appear in the rerevised bill, with additional changes that change fee from 10 dollars to 20 dollars.


01:09 PM

Tom Tarver, representing himself, came to the table to provide information about the imposed fee for the special license plate. He answered questions from committee members and stated that the military personnel seeking to obtain the support the troops license plate can donate additional plates.

01:11 PM

Jerry Paine, Office of Legislative Legal Services and drafter of the bill, clarified language that is consistent with other special license plates. He stated that other bills provide a specific amount that is required for a special license plate rather than a range and the statues do not put a limit on the fee. Committee discussion ensued regarding the fee.


01:14 PM -- Debbie Quackerbush came to the table to provide addition information regarding the imposed fee and collection of such fee. She stated that the fee is an annual fee and not a renewal fee. In addition, she stated that she strongly urges the committee to set the fee to 25 dollars.
