Senator Veiga introduced her bill modifying the law of real estate foreclosure in certain areas. She provided three amendments to the committee (Attachments D, E, and F). She provided a packet of materials to the committee (Attachments G through M). She responded to questions from the committee.

Steve Hilde, representing himself, spoke about his experience as an investor of foreclosed properties. He provided a written copy of his testimony to the committee (Attachment N).

Jim Lindell, representing himself, spoke about his experience as a foreclosure specialist. He indicated support for some aspects of the bill and concern with others. He gave examples of current foreclosures that he is working on.

Jack Arrowsmith, Colorado Public Trustees Association, spoke in support of the legislation. He discussed the role of public trustees in Colorado and the number of foreclosures on average in the state.

Robert Hopp, Colorado Bar Association, spoke in support of the legislation. He discussed the process of developing the proposed legislation and an attempt to clarify current statute relating to foreclosure. He responded to questions from the committee.

Jan Zavislin, Deputy Attorney General, spoke in favor of the legislation. He discussed the Attorney General's office's work on foreclosure problems in the state and the role of the proposed legislation in addressing those problems.
