01:02 PM -- Senate Bill 06-173 - Concerning Mileage Allowances for State Officers and Employees

Representative Marshall, prime sponsor, explained that Senate Bill 06-173 increases the state reimbursement rate for mileage traveled by state employees in a personal vehicle on official state business. Under the bill, the state would provide a portion of the IRS rate rounded to the rounded to the nearest cent. Beginning January 1, 2006, the IRS rate is $0.445 per mile. Representative Marshall discussed the fiscal note and said it reflected a reimbursement rate of $0.33 for two wheel drive vehicles and $0.36 for four wheel drive vehicles in FY 2005-06.
