Dennis Ellis, candidate for appointment as Executive Director of the Department of Public Health and Environment, discussed his background. He described the major initiatives of the department including emergency preparedness for a flu pandemic, emissions testing, programs to reduce the environmental impact of state agencies, and childhood immunization rates. A copy of his resume was distributed to the committee (Attachment A). Various committee members commented on the department's initiatives regarding the flu pandemic and Colorado's ranking in the delivery of Immunizations to children.
