Senator Keller, prime sponsor, reviewed the provisions of House Bill 06-1191, concerning a mandatory recount in an election in which more than one candidate is to be elected. Senator Johnson asked about the number of recounts this legislation could trigger. Senator Keller said this provision clarifies the recount requirements, and stated that she does not know if it would initiate more recounts.

Carol Snyder, representing the Colorado County Clerks' Association, testified in support of the bill. She responded to questions from the committee regarding payment for recounts. She testified that this measure only covers mandatory recounts. Senator Johnson asked about the cost of recounts.
