10:30 AM -- House Bill 06-1073

Representative Knoedler, prime sponsor, reviewed House Bill 06-1073, which repeals the statutory requirement that a limousine be equipped with a television, telephone, and beverages in order to be considered a luxury limousine. House Bill 06-1073 was first heard on January 18, 2006, and was taken off the table so that the bill sponsor could work with interested parties in possibly creating a compromise amendment.

10:36 AM

Terry Willert, Chief of Transportation for the Public Utilities Commission (PUC), answered questions for the committee. Mr. Willert discussed new rules and decals issued by the PUC to identify limousines. Mr. Willert also explained the annual inspection process for limousines by the PUC and the fee limousines operators must pay in order to receive a decal identifying them as a luxury limousine.
