Members of the state Board of Assessment Appeals came to the table to discuss their appointments to the board. A copy of the candidates' materials was provided to the committee (Attachment A). The appointees introduced themselves and responded to questions from the committee.

01:47 PM -- House Bill 06-1048

Senator Takis introduced her bill concerning criminal penalties for disciplining persons in occupations regulated by the Division of Registrations in the Department of Regulatory Agencies. She provided a handout to the committee (Attachment B).

Arlene Miles, CHCA, spoke about the bill. She discussed a possible amendment to the committee that would clarify some requirements.

01:56 PM

Senator Takis explained two changes to the bill that had been suggested by other parties. She indicated her interest in having representative from the Office of Legislative Legal Services (OLLS) discuss what any amendments would do and how they would impact the bill.

01:57 PM -- Christy Chase OLLS, discussed a change requested by social workers to the legislation. She then discussed an prepared amendment that would clarify that a person must act knowingly or willfully without a license (Attachment C). She responded to questions from the committee.

Rose McCool, Department of Regulatory Agencies, responded to questions from the committee regarding the Department's feelings regarding the proposed amendment.
