Senator Takis, Chair, called the meeting to order. She distributed a letter from the Regional Transportation District (RTD) concerning RTD's safety plans at the rail crossings on the FasTracks corridors (Attachment A).

11:33 AM -- House Bill 06-1016

Senator Spence, prime sponsor, explained the provisions of HB 06-1016, concerning the issuance of a temporary registration for commercial movers of household goods. Witness testimony for HB 06-1016 was heard on February 28, 2006. HB 06-1016 authorizes the Motor Carrier Services Division in the Department of Regulatory Agencies to issue, through a port of entry station, a one-time temporary household mover registration. Senator Spence explained prepared amendment L.003 (Attachment B). Senator Spence answered questions from committee members and stated that the bill requires individuals that move household good for business purposes to register with the Public Utilities Commission (PUC).
