Review 2005 Senate Select Committee		-

Senator Grossman explained the materials that were distributed to the committee. The first is the Senate Select Committee on Homeland Security Report to the Colorado Senate, dated June 2005(Attachment A). The second is Executive Summary of Homeland Security Grant Program Performance Audit, dated October 2005, conducted by the Colorado Office of the State Auditor (Attachment B). The last is a memorandum from Legislative Council Staff summarizing a U.S. Department of Homeland Security Monitoring Report dated December 2005 (Attachment C). Senator Grossman discussed his intent for the work of the committee and asked for input from the committee members. Senator Teck asked that staff provide a briefing of the events of last year's committee meetings for the benefit of the new members. Senator Teck also asked if the areas of concern from last year have been addressed since they were raised. Senator Grossman expressed his desire to hear from the State Auditor's Office with regards to the concerns they raised in their October 2005 Audit. The committee discussed issues of priorities. Interoperability was raised has a high priority issue for several members. Infrastructure was another major issue discussed. A third issue raised was evacuation plans.
