Representative King reviewed the provisions of House Bill 06-1065, concerning the creation of a statewide data-sharing system. The bill would direct the Department of Education to contract for the development of a statewide data-sharing system to enable participating school districts to share information electronically with the department and other school districts.

Mary Sharon Wells, representing the Jefferson County Schools, noted that the district was neutral on the bill. She reviewed conversations she has had with her school district officials.

04:35 PM -- Richard Wenning, representing the Colorado League of Charter Schools, testified in support of the bill. He said that the bill would provide an important investment in the education infrastructure.

Representative King responded to additional questions from the committee.

04:40 PM -- Tonette Salazar, representing Colorado Association of School Executives (CASE), responded to questions about a report that CASE is developing that would list all reports required of school districts. She said that the project is ongoing and has not been completed. CASE has not taken a position on the bill.
