01:49 PM -- Senate Bill 06-053

Representative Lindstrom, bill sponsor, provided an explanation of the provisions of SB 06-053 that expand the size of a residential lot for the purposes of weed removal by the county.

01:51 PM

Rob Coney, Adams County Planning Director, spoke in support of the bill explaining that under current law, counties only remove weeds from residential lots that are one acre or less. He further explained that there are pieces of land in more populated rural subdivisions that are bigger than one acre that should have the same right to weed removal as urban subdivisions.

01:52 PM

Pat Ratliff, Colorado Counties, Inc., spoke in support of the bill. She explained that the current one acre trigger for the county to perform weed removal is 25 to 30 years old and that the lots on which newer homes are built are larger in size than those built when the current acreage specification was put into the law.

01:55 PM

Representative Lindstrom provided closing comments on the bill.
