Senator Sandoval, chair, called the meeting to order. Senator Shaffer, prime sponsor, summarized the issues the committee discussed regarding SB 06-070 at the committee's meeting on January 19th, 2006. He indicated that his proposed strike below amendment requires the settlement of personal property tax payments at the end of a lease instead of annually. The amendment also provides for treble damages if a lessor does not refund overpaid personal property taxes and the lessee brings a lawsuit.

Senator Shaffer indicated that he did not check with the opposition to the bill but thought that the amendment would satisfy their concerns.
