Conceptual amendment - see handout - Out of the 1st year (FY 2005-06) appropriation of $3.0 million to the Office of Economic Development: (1) appropriates $1.0 million to CU in FY 2005-06 for a research institute for renewable energy, and for a regional energy center, to promote renewable energy alternatives, efficient lighting, heating and cooling, and building design; (2) appropriates $500,000 to Mesa State College in FY 2005-06 for an instittue and to train and equip students for careers in energy related industries; and 3) stipulates that the funds in (1) and (2) above will be used to develop architectural drawings, design and development of grants. The sponsor explained that the purpose of this amendment is to allow the schools to compete for grants.Final
