Senator Takis presented Bill 3 - Redundant Railroad Crossings. Two versions of the bill were distributed: version 1 (Attachment E) and version 2 (Attachment F). The committee discussed version 2 (Attachment F). The bill allows an applicable railroad company, the Public Utilities Commission (PUC), the Department of Transportation, or the local government responsible for supervising and maintaining the highway or road at any at grade crossing to abolish the crossing without a hearing before the PUC, as required under current law.
