Ralph Bozella, Chairman, State and Veteran Nursing Home Commission, updated the committee of the activities of the Commission. The Commission's mission is to evaluate state veterans nursing homes by studying issues, prioritizing the issues, providing a preliminary report, and issuing a final report.
The Commission has:
reviewed the duties and charges of the commission;
broken into three teams to visit all the state and veteran nursing homes, including Walsenburg; and
selected a staff person for the Commission, Stan Elofson.
Mr. Bozella stated that by next week the Commission will have visited all the state veterans nursing homes. The Commission plans to create a web page through the Department of Human Services which will provide updates on the activities of the Commission. The Commission will also focus on the upcoming presentation of the thier preliminary report to the Legislative Oversight Committee of State and Veterans Nursing Homes, which is scheduled for December 14, 2005. In addition, the Commission members were recognized.
