Representative Jahn, prime sponsor, explained the provisions of the bill. Representative Jahn commented that Senate Bill 05-155 requires a certified nurse aide to meet specific prerequisites before receiving training as a medication aide to administer medications in nursing facilities.

The intent of the amendment is to allow time for nursing aids to get to know patients before medications can be administered.
