Representative McCann, sponsor, introduced House Bill 15-1293. Current law provides a six year statute of limitations for bringing an action for rent, but tenants have a three year statute of limitations to bring an action on a lease. The bill changes the statute of limitations to three years for both actions for rent and counterclaims or offsets related to the action for rent.
