Refer House Bill 15-1239 to the Committee on StatePASS

09:57 AM -- HB 15-1239

Senator Steadman presented House Bill 15-1239, concerning exempting Denver Health and Hospital Postemployment Compensation. Under current law, governmental units are generally prohibited from providing postemployment compensation to government-supported officials or employees after their employment has been terminated. The bill removes the Denver Health and Hospital Authority from the definition of a governmental unit and, as a result, removes this restriction.

09:59 AM --
Art Gonzalez, Chief Executive Officer, Denver Health, spoke in support of the bill. He stated that removing the prohibition against offering postemployment compensation will allow Denver Health to compete with other hospitals when recruiting medical providers.

10:01 AM --
Caz Matthews, Chair, Board of the Denver Health and Hospital Authority, spoke in support of the bill.

10:02 AM --
Scott Hoye, Denver Health, spoke in support of the bill.
