Representative Williams presented Senate Bill 15-262. The bill expands and clarifies groups that may obtain blanket sickness and accident insurance. The Commissioner of Insurance is given additional authority to approve the issuance of a blanket sickness and accident policy to any other individual risk or class of risk.

Kelly Ryan, American International Group, testified in support of the bill. He discussed blanket insurance and stated the bill refines current law. Mr. Ryan outlined the types of organizations that would be able to obtain blanket sickness and accident insurance under the bill. Mr. Ryan answered questions about the bill. Representative Williams explained that blanket sickness and accident insurance provides secondary insurance in most circumstances.
