Representative Pettersen, Vice-Chair, welcomed the committee. Representative Wilson, sponsor, presented Senate Bill 15-138, which permits school districts to use Accelerating Students Through Concurrent Enrollment (ASCENT) funds at any time during the fiscal year. He described the ASCENT Program, which allows students to remain with their local education providers for a fifth year to earn college credits. He distributed a handout to the committee (Attachment A). He described the need for administrative flexibility.
