Representatives K. Becker and Lawrence introduced House Bill 15-1047. The bill prohibits internet sweepstakes cafes and similar establishments in which simulated gambling devices are used to award prizes to customers since they are unconstitutional. The bill creates a new misdemeanor offense for offering these devices in exchange for any type of consideration.

04:23 PM -- Matthew Durkin, Attorney General's Office, testified in support of the bill. Mr. Durkin handed out the Attorney General's opinion on internet sweepstakes cafes to the committee (Attachment M). Mr. Durkin responded to questions from the committee.
