Theresa Holst and Heather Lin, Legislative Council Staff, spoke on the Gold Fund. The Gold Fund expenditure report was distributed to the committee members (Attachment C). Ms. Lin discussed the current status of the fund and expenditures over several years.

Ms. Continguglia said that the high expenditures in certain years are caused by the bulk purchase of items for the gift shop.

Ms. Anderson discussed the need for a cultural landscape assessment. She discussed the landmark status of Lincoln Park and the Capitol grounds. Ms. Anderson said that the Gold Fund could be used to help establish a criteria for future memorial proposals and landscape changes.

Ms. Anderson answered questions from the committee regarding the purpose of a cultural landscape assessment. She said that an assessment is done to review the original purpose of the site and to establish criteria to honor the historic integrity of the building and its grounds.

Ms. Continguglia asked about the funds for Mr. Brown's Attic. Ms. Lin said that $1,500 is added each year and carries over from year to year.
