Representative Fields, co-sponsor, presented House Bill 15-1339, which regulates the way school districts provide financial data. Representative Fields discussed the way schools currently provide financial data to the public and how the bill would increase efficiency of reporting. Representative Wilson, co-sponsor, discussed the provisions of the bill and how passage of the bill would benefit schools, districts, and the public. They distributed a handout to the committee (Attachment D).

02:19 PM -- Tony Whitely, Budget Director for the St. Vrain Valley School District, spoke in support of the bill. He spoke about how the bill will allow for greater efficiency of the transparency requirements passed in the 2014 Student Success Act. He spoke about the implementation of transparency in his district. He told the committee that the provisions of the bill will relieve districts of significant administrative burdens without compromising transparency requirements. Mr. Whitely responded to questions from the committee.
