Representative Court, Chair, called the meeting to order.

Representative Ryden, sponsor, introduced House Bill 15-1069. Current law requires that a homestead exemption document include the property description, the nature and source of the owner's interest in the property, and affirmation that the owner or owner's spouse is homesteading the property. This bill requires that the name of the owner of the property also be included on the homestead exemption document.

01:41 PM -- Mr. Bo Edwards, from Westcor Land Title Insurance Company, representing the Land Title Association of Colorado, testified in support of the bill. He stated that this bill further protects the owner of a property and offers protection to non-owner spouses. Mr. Edwards said that this bill will also make title searches easier. He noted that several other states have similar homestead exemptions.
