Representative Szabo, prime sponsor, presented House Joint Resolution 14-1021. The resolution concerns the protection of the bald eagle in relation to renewable energy production. She spoke about reasons to value the bald eagle as the national emblem of the United States, and about the declining population of bald eagles. She explained the term "human loss of habitat." She asked the committee to hold renewable energy companies to the same standards as oil and gas companies. She talked about the protection of various animal species. She listed her concerns with the effect of the wind energy industry on the eagle population.
