He explained the process for approving interim committee requests, noting that the committee can assign 20 interim committee meetings total. A memorandum concerning all the requests and bills before the committee was distributed (Attachment A).

Representative Ryden explained Interim Committee Request 2014-3, concerning International Arbitration. A letter and fact sheet concerning the committee were distributed (Attachments B and C, respectively).

Senator Newell asked whether the process Representative Ryden envisioned could be done informally. Representative Murray asked how many meetings would be necessary. Representative Ryden said two meetings would probably be sufficient.

Representative Primavera explained Interim Committee Request 2014-4, concerning Treatment for Problem Gambling (Attachment D). An article concerning gambling addiction was also distributed to the committee (Attachment E). Representative Primavera explained her reasons for requesting the interim committee.

Representative Peniston and Representative Schafer explained Interim Committee Request 2014-5, concerning the Early Childhood and School Readiness Commission (Attachment F). A letter was distributed to the committee, but no copies were available for the archives. Representative Pensiton explained the importance of having legislative staff support for the commission.
