Kristen Cooper and Peter Hensen, Global Universal Licensing and Finance (GULF), introduced themselves and their organization and distributed a printout of their presentation (Attachment A). Ms. Cooper and Mr. Hensen discussed GULF's capabilities; how GULF could aid Colorado's economy; global fish market dynamics; and production methods of different kinds of fish. Mr. Hensen answered questions from the committee regarding water consumption and energy usage on fish farms. Ms. Cooper and Mr. Hensen discussed GULF's hydroponic greenhouses; the nutritional value and quality of vegetables grown using GULF's hydroponic systems; GULF's St. Louis Northside Revitalization Project; and financial aspects of GULF's projects. Mr. Hensen answered questions from the committee regarding water consumption and how the Colorado legislature might assist in furthering GULF's mission.

Chris Hansen, Denver Metro Chamber, discussed the 2013 Resource Rich study (Attachment B) including the production and consumption of crude oil in the United States from 1973-2012 and he answered questions from the committee regarding consumption and production trends. He talked about global oil production from 2008-2012; top net importers of crude oil from 2007-2011; natural gas reserves and utilization rates; natural gas production and consumption of natural gas in the United States; natural gas pipeline infrastructure in the United States; the location of shale plays in the United States; shale gas production in the United States; global natural gas production; and the importation of natural gas. Mr. Hansen answered questions from the committee regarding the role that natural gas plays in the Crimea peninsula conflict. He discussed the production of coal in the United States; coal reserves and utilization rates globally and in the United States; global coal production from 2008-2012; global exports and imports of coal; and total installed wind capacity, solar capacity, and hydropower capacity in the United States. He talked about major electric transmission lines across the United States; the history of energy generation in the United States; and the cost of electric generation plants; and he answered questions from the committee regarding subsidies offered to different energy generation sourcing projects. He continued to discuss the capacity of different types of energy sources; available installed capacity compared to utilized capacity for different types of energy sources in the United States and in Colorado; energy consumption per capita in the United States; the average price of residential summer retail electricity; global carbon dioxide emissions; and 2012 water consumption by different industries in Colorado. Mr. Hansen talked about different energy policies and programs in Colorado and other states including energy efficiency policies; renewable energy policies; and net metering policies. He also talked about and answered questions regarding trends in the alternative fuel vehicle industry and he discussed and answered questions regarding state gasoline taxes; global retail prices of gasoline; employment and salary statistics in the fossil fuel industry and cleantech industry; and the economic impacts of Colorado's energy industry. He invited the members and public to the Energy Expo being held at the Colorado Convention Center on June 27, 2014 (Attachment C). He answered questions from the committee regarding recent advances in clean-coal technologies and Colorado's key industries.

Scott Prestige, Denver Metro Economic Development Corporation, answered questions from the committee regarding the contribution that agriculture makes to Colorado's economy and how it compares to other industries. Mr. Hansen answered questions from the committee regarding training opportunities for legislators to learn more about Colorado's energy resources.
