Refer House Bill 14-1365 to the Committee of the WPASS

11:57 AM -- HB14-1365

Representatives Hamner and Wilson, co-sponsors, presented House Bill 14-1365. Under current law, a junior college board of trustees must select its officers within ten days after an election. However, because canvass boards are allotted 17 days to certify the official abstract of votes in such elections, it may be impossible for junior college boards of trustees to comply with that deadline. This bill allows junior college board boards of trustees 60 days from the close of polls to select their officers. The bill also directs the Attorney General, upon request, to serve as legal advisor to Colorado Mountain College (CMC). The board of CMC also has the authority to select and retain legal counsel.
