02:03 PM -- SB14-149

Representative Hamner, Chair, welcomed the committee members and audience. Representative Young, sponsor, introduced Senate Bill 14-149, which strikes a paragraph from state law that allows the Department of Higher Education (DHE) to exempt a school from licensure requirements based on accreditation. The bill, if passed, brings state law into compliance with federal law (34 CFR 600.9). He stated that not complying with federal law puts Title IV funding at risk.
