Representative Hamner, Chair of the House Education Committee, called the meeting to order and welcomed representatives from the Council of State Governments (CSG) to the table to provide a brief statement to the committee members. Pam Goins and Tim Weldon, CSG, spoke about the work of their organization and responded to questions from the committee members.

Representative Hamner welcomed the College in Colorado presenters to the table, including: Gully Stanford, Director of Partnerships; Dawn Taylor Owens, Executive Director; and Chad Marturano, Legislative Liaison for the Colorado Department of Higher Education (DHE). Mr. Marturano began the presentation by providing background on College in Colorado and the organization's relation to DHE. Ms. Taylor Owens continued the presentation by discussing College in Colorado's work and mission, which is to help students explore college and career pathways. She stated that College in Colorado provides its services free-of-charge and that the organization is funded through College Assist. She stated that College in Colorado was originally created to address the Colorado paradox, but provides 2-year, 4-year, and technical college information to students for schools and programs around the nation. She stated that two years ago, CollegeinColorado.org was selected by the Lumina Foundation as one of the top three college planning websites in the U.S. She described the web-traffic that CollegeinColorado.org receives, stating that during 2012, the site averaged 2 million page views per month and that visitors spent an average of 15 minutes on the site per visit. She stated that nearly every school district in Colorado uses the site for individual career and academic plan (ICAP) planning. She discussed a micro-site called Ownyourfuture.org which is intended to help ex-offenders with college and career planning resources. She discussed the workshops and job fairs that College in Colorado has held, and several campaigns to reach out to underserved populations. A packet of information was provided to the committee members (Attachment A).
