Representatives McLachlan and Vigil, co-prime sponsors, presented Senate Bill 13-264 concerning rural family medicine programs. This bill requires that, in addition to existing duties, the Advisory Commission on Family Medicine (COFM) in the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) support the development of rural family medicine residency programs.

Dr. Kim Marvel, representing COFM, testified in support of the bill. She discussed how rural training residencies are currently set up and the financial and accreditation issues those residencies face. Dr. Marvel responded to questions regarding the appropriation included in the bill.
