10:49 AM -- House Bill 12-1334

Representative Sonnenberg explained that Representative Becker was not available to present his bill due to a family emergency, however, Representative Becker wished that the bill still be heard in committee. Representative Sonnenberg indicated that he had spoken to the Speaker of the House and to the Minority Leader and that they both approved.

10:50 AM --
Eric Lane, Colorado Department of Agriculture, spoke in support of the bill and explained that the bill is a sunset extension that extends the funding from the Operational Account of the Severance Tax Trust Fund to promote agricultural energy through FY 2016-17 at a level of $500,000 annually. Under current law, this funding would sunset after FY 2011-12. He discussed the purpose of the program.

Lee Swenson, Rocky Mountain Farmers Union, spoke in support of the bill and discussed how the bill has advanced energy developments on farms and ranches in Colorado.
