The committee was called to order. A quorum was present. Representative Pabon, prime sponsor, presented Senate Bill 12-143, concerning the development of a local businesses database by the Colorado Office of Economic Development. Committee members received a fact sheet about the bill (Attachment A), and a letter in support of the bill from Chris Metcalf of Socrata, Inc. (Attachment B). The committee heard testimony on the bill, and amended the bill, at its March 22nd meeting. Representative Pabon discussed the merits of the bill. Representative Pabon responded to questions about changes made to the bill by amendment L.004, and the effect of the bill as amended. Representative Todd expressed support for the bill. Representative Pabon responded to questions regarding how the bill provides for state governmental transparency.
