12:22 PM -- Senate Bill 10-196

Representative Frangas, Vice Chair, called the meeting to order. A quorum was present. Representative Scanlan, prime sponsor of Senate Bill 10-196, discussed the merits of the bill. The bill would prohibit the Department of Transportation (CDOT) from setting a speed limit on Interstate 70 for one type of motor vehicle that is 25 miles per hour less than the highest limit for another type of motor vehicle. Representative Scanlan responded to questions from committee members.

Ms. Melissa Nelson, representing CDOT, and Mr. Bobby Juchem, representing the Colorado State Patrol, testified in support of the bill. Ms. Nelson and Mr. Juchem responded to questions from committee members.
