Representative Kefalas called the meeting to order. Representative Kefalas addressed his concern that an amendment was put on in the Senate that added ambulatory surgical centers as stakeholders on the advisory committee. He stated the House Health and Human Services Committee did not add any new members to the advisory committee, but that language referring to the membership of the advisory committee was clarified. He stated that the language specifies that a statewide association of hospitals be included in the composition of the advisory committee. Representative Roberts noted that ambulatory surgical centers are unique and have distinct differences from traditional hospitals. She stated that their input may be beneficial. Representative Kefalas suggested that ambulatory surgical centers may be represented and provide input during public meetings. Representative Roberts questioned whether the Colorado Medical Society would offer up a representative from ambulatory surgical centers. Representative Kagan stated that typically the smaller the group, the more effective it may be. He stated that the bill was intended to capture claims data from the various payers with different codes and not necessarily because they may be a model of a health care delivery system.
