Representative Ferrandino indicated that the Department of Law budget is not affected dramatically by the current economic circumstances. The department does not need as much funding as previously anticipated to defend certain lawsuits. However, other litigation does require increased expenditures. Representative Kagan asked about the costs to bring a suit opposing federal health care reform legislation. The Florida Attorney General is bearing the majority of the costs for that lawsuit.
