Mr. Gagliardi discussed the need for equal tax treatment with respect to health insurance premiums. Mr. Gagliardi responded to questions regarding consensus on the issue of allowing income tax deductions for individuals purchasing health insurance, and the rationale for the disparate tax treatment of health insurance premiums.

Ms. Hoerner-Mowry responded to questions regarding the impact of an individual health insurance deduction on health care affordability, and the potential impact of recently enacted health care legislation at the federal level on the deductibility of health insurance premiums by individuals.
