Senator Lundberg, prime sponsor, presented Senate Bill 09-222, concerning standards for a sign required to notify drivers that an automated vehicle identification device is being used to detect traffic violations. He said that photo radar is a greater deterrent to speeding if motorists know of its presence. He said that there are examples of municipalities that are failing to abide by statutory requirements. He commented on a case in which signs providing notice of photo radar ahead have lettering so small that it is unreadable.
