Senator Isgar welcomed the Governor's appointee to the State Board of Stock Inspection Commissioners and invited him to describe his experience and interest in serving on the commission (Attachment A).

Rick Waylert, Brand Commissioner, spoke in support of Mr. LeValley's appointment to the State Board of Stock Inspection Commissioners.

John Stulp, Commissioner of Agriculture, spoke in support of Mr. LeValley's appointment to the State Board of Stock Inspection Commissioners.

Mark B. LeValley of Hotchkiss described his experience and interest in serving on the commission. Mr. LeValley was reappointed to represent the non-confinement cattle industry, effective May 1, 2009, for a term expiring May 1, 2013.

Mr. Waylert and Mr. LeValley responded to questions from the committee about the need to increase brand inspection fees to pay for operations of the Brand Board.

Commissioner Stulp explained how the state hiring freeze has affected the staffing needs of the Brand Board. He also described the problem of abandoned horses and the lack of sale barns that are willing to accept them.
