08:03 AM -- Governor's Office of Information Technology FY 2009-10 State-Funded Request

The committee came to order. A quorum was present. Representative Gagliardi joined the committee at the table.

Mr. Todd Olson, Chief Operating Officer, Governor's Office of Information Technology (OIT), came to the table to present a FY 2009-10 state-funded request for the Digital Trunked Radio System project. Committee members received a description of the request, prepared by Legislative Council Staff (Attachment A), statistics about the digital trunked radio system, prepared by OIT (Attachment B), highlights of how state capital money was spent in 2008 on the digital trunked radio system, prepared by OIT (Attachment C), and a letter from OIT revising the amount requested for FY 2009-10 from $6.0 million to $4.2 million (Attachment D). Mr. Olson noted key achievements on the project, described in Attachments B and C. He responded to questions and comments from the committee, stating that there are no state matching requirements attached to federal funds, and that the office will need to submit requests in the future to cover the system's operation and maintenance. Committee members commented on the importance of the project. Mr. Olson indicated that efforts to complete and expand the system have been collaborative among state, local, and federal agencies, and thanked the committee for the opportunity to present the request.
