Harris Sherman, Executive Director of the Colorado Department of Natural Resources, introduced the Governor's appointments to the Wildlife Commission including Robert G. Streeter to serve as a representative of Wildlife District 3, appointed; Dorothea Farris to serve as a representative of the public at large, as a representative of wildlife organizations, appointed; Kenneth M. "Mark" Smith, a resident of Wildlife District 2, a livestock producer, appointed; and John W. Singletary of Pueblo, Colorado, a resident of Wildlife District 4,a sportsman, and a Democrat, appointed.

The appointees responded to questions from the committee about wildlife organizations of which they are members and their views on policy issues including public access to hunting and fishing opportunities, game damage, and the rights of landowners. They described their experience hunting and fishing and identified policies to increase the number of hunters and anglers through public education and other programs.

The appointees responded to questions about the role of the Wildlife Commission in addressing the impacts from oil and gas development on wildlife and how to balance the rights of mineral and surface landowners with the duty to protect wildlife resources.
