02:03 PM -- Funding for Obama Portrait
Representative Weissmann said he and Ms. Nunnally had met with the Senate President to discuss raising funds to commission a portrait of President Obama for the third floor rotunda gallery. Representative Weissmann suggested that the committee explore issuing an RFP for an artist to paint the portrait. He proposed that a selection committee, which would include the Senate President and the Speaker of the House, be formed to choose an artist. The committee discussed how this might be accomplished, with conversation around whether the Colorado Council on the Arts might be able to assist. Ms. Contiguglia agreed to contact the Council.
