12:22 PM -- Review of Legislative Council Staff Budget

Mike Mauer, Director of Legislative Council Staff, and Betsy Holdredge, Chief Accountant, Legislative Council Staff, presented the fiscal year 2009-10 Legislative Council budget request (Attachment A). Mr. Mauer explained that the request is asking for a flat budget, with the exception of an increase for employer contributions to health, dental, and life insurance, a 1.0 percent decrease in personal services, and increased contributions for the Public Employees' Retirement Association (PERA) amortization equalization disbursement and the PERA supplemental amortization equalization disbursement. Overall, Mr. Mauer stated the Legislative Council Staff budget would increase by 0.35 percent which is about $18,000.

There were no questions from the committee regarding the proposed budget.

Mr. Mauer discussed a memorandum that was distributed by Legislative Council Staff that outlines the Legislative Council's required meetings for the year (Attachment B). He also talked about a Legislative Council Handbook that lists the committee's responsibilities that was also distributed and can be found online at: http://www.state.co.us/gov_dir/leg_dir/lcsstaff/2009/comsched/2009%20Leg%20Council%20Handbook.pdf.
