FINAL VOTE - Adopt the first report of the first conference committee (Attachment A). The report returns to the reengrossed version of the bill and it allows the CBI Cold Case Unit to provide grants, support services, and various costs for local investigations of cold case homicides. It also requires the Department of Corrections to report to the Joint Budget Committee regarding any additional risks encountered by department personnel as a result of the repeal of the death penalty. Senator Carroll stated that this is the best option because it directs more funding to cold case investigation. Members of the committee commented about the report. The motion passed on a vote of 4-2.Final
