CONCERNING HONORING THE CLASS 1A GIRLS BASKETBALL CHAMPIONS. WHEREAS, The Prairie girls basketball team defeated Flagler 61-52 to win the class 1A state championship; and WHEREAS, This is the Lady Mustangs' first state title after playing in the tournament 6 prior times; and WHEREAS, The Lady Mustangs dominated the second half, more than doubling their 4-point lead at half time to 9 points by the game's end; and WHEREAS, Kim Kilmer, Amber Whitlock, Mandy Davison, Sheila Mertens, and Jessica Mertens scored 22, 20, 9, 6, and 4 points respectively in the championship game; and WHEREAS, Amber Whitlock was honored as the tournament's Most Valuable Player; and WHEREAS, Kim Kilmer and Amber Whitlock earned positions on the All-Tournament Team; and WHEREAS, Through hard work and team play, the Lady Mustangs not only won the state championship, but also achieved a 22-3 record for the season; and WHEREAS, The Lady Mustangs' coach, Maggie Kilmer, guided them throughout their exceptional season; and WHEREAS, Winning the state championship represents the fulfillment of a season-long goal for the team's members: Mandy Davison, Kim Kilmer, Megan McEndaffer, Jessica Mertens, Sheila Mertens, Tori Schiller, Liz Templeton, Amber Whitlock, and Andi Whitlock; now, therefore, Be It Resolved by the Senate of the Sixty-third General Assembly of the State of Colorado, the House of Representatives concurring herein: That we, the members of the Sixty-third General Assembly, hereby honor the hard work and team unity that propelled the members of the Prairie girls basketball team to the Class 1A state championship.
